Plant Manager 

Florida

A full-service commercial print company is looking to add a Plant Manager to its team!

Plant Manager (2nd shift)

It is the responsibility of the Plant Manager to ensure the efficient day-to-day manufacturing, bindery, finishing, fulfillment, warehousing, and housekeeping operations of the company.

The Plant Manager must maximize the organization’s operational productivity and efficiencies while leading and managing all second shift company production functions, including but not limited to, accurate and consistent manufacturing processes, quality assurance, repairs/maintenance, scheduling based on communicated company needs, shop floor data collection, staffing and more.

Reports to the Vice President of Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire manufacturing plant as a liaison between department managers, production associates, csr’s, sales, senior management and outsourced vendor partners.

  • Assist in and oversee training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling and the performance of employees.

  • Write and participate in employee reviews and corrective actions; collaborate with the VP of Operations and Director of Human Resources.

  • Promote and sustain the highest standards in productivity, quality and cultural alignment.

  • Communicate job expectations and details; planning, monitoring, and review jobs and related activities.

  • Ensure that each operator/employee understands the task at hand with clear quality and productivity expectations.

  • Oversee bindery, finishing, fulfillment, printing, warehouse, logistics, and other operations as needed.

  • Project sign-offs and approvals on set-ups of new projects and taking over existing projects in process.

  • Establish and support QC pull sheet cadence for project quality assurance throughout the runs.

  • Check and ensure proper packaging, labeling, and staging of finished goods.

  • Daily production and shift change meetings.

  • Receiving hand-offs starting at the 2:30 pm Topps meeting as well as other commercial work from the first shift.

  • Email and other communications at shift end for the first shift (coming in) on all completed jobs, comments, or opportunities.

  • Advise on operational improvements.

  • E-pace is our MIS system; train and assume control for proper processing and reporting of all functions, including load tags and shop floor data collections.

  • Analyze process workflow, employee and space requirements, and equipment layout; collaborate with the management team on changes for improvements.

  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing the all company policies and industry best practices accordingly; complying with legal regulations and company guidelines.

  • Manage staff levels, hours, contract labor to meet workload demands.

  • Advise on compensation adjustments.

  • Enforcing policies and procedures.

  • Run a safe, injury/accident-free workplace.

  • Maintain high standards in housekeeping in the most orderly manner.

  • Communicate all operating policies and/or issues to upper management and at department meetings as needed.

Experience:

· Minimum 10 years of proven management experience in the printing industry.

· Proven history of managing $25 million + operations with over 150 employees under one roof.

Print Estimator

Job Summary:

The Estimator position entails estimating costs and initial planning of potential jobs to be produced or brokered.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Receive and confirm specifications included in “Requests for Quote” forms and other pricing requests.

  • Plan press layouts and other production methods for each estimate.

Set up, operate, and maintain Polar 115 or 137 cutters to cut paper and custom-manufactured print for high-end clients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Review job ticket specifications to determine the exact needs for the job at hand and the next operation in the production sequence.

· Measure precisely to determine incremental cutting positions from gripper and guide.

· Program cutting positions in proper order into computer memory.

· Examine / quality control inspect cut material for any imperfections and adjust computer program and clamp pressures as needed.

· Off-load / Stack finished or pre-finished material from the cutter bed and stack on pallets for shipment to the customer or next operation; following specific job ticket instructions.

· Record job information on load tags and time sheets; enter data collection as needed.

· Change knives and lubricate machine as needed as recommended by manufacturers' specifications.

· Maintain the display and support of high standards in productivity and quality of work.

· All other duties as so assigned.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, WORKING CONDITIONS

Komori Press Operator

A full service commercial print company is seeking experienced Komori press operators

The head pressman’s role is to operate a heat set printing press and produce quality product, administer crew leadership.

List and rank in order of importance each job responsibility and duty:
1. Must follow safety policies and procedures.
2. The head pressman’s primary function is to run the press and produce the highest quality work possible in a timely manner, while controlling make ready and running waste .
3. The head pressman is responsible for quality of the printed product he /she produces ( ink densities color match to proofs, registration and squareness of folds and laps and overall print quality inspect signatures for marking that may come from fold ,sheeter and or stacker or belting)
4. must save all required samples on each press run and tag as specified ( 1 per thousand press pulls and trimmed copies , in house, sales and customer samples )
5. Ability to read and understand job tickets and written instruction to insure proper stocks and inks are used and the job is ran to proper cutoffs to finish and any special instruction are listed in job ticket.
6. Must focus on development of crew leadership and training of new or advanced crew members the head pressman is responsible for all production and quality turned on his / her shift with a given crew this makes it important to train and develop all crew member.
7. Must understand and follow all SOP’S.
8. Knowledge of piece weight scales to deliver accurate counts at the finish of each press run.
9. All paper wok must be filled out correct and accurate PSI and daily shift report must reflect matching times and numbers ,skid tags in detail for form number ,version ID and proper counts, larger runs must have a manual skid sheet filled out to record amount of skids produced and count on each skid to prevent over run of product .
10. The head pressman will perform preventive maintenance on press equipment with the help of delegating tasks to crew members at hand; the head pressman will fill out maintenance request form and turn them in to department manager.
11. General cleaning of press area and press must be performed on each shift.
12. Press log book (information of maintenance performed , rollers and blankets that have been changed and PM’S that may have been preformed on that shift )

Minimum qualifications required:
Some computer skills, ability to read and understand written instructions, must be quality and production driven with the ability to lead crew members.

Experience: Ability to perform off-bearer and second pressman’s duties and general concept of press operation.
Education/Training: High school diploma or GED.

Technical Skills: Vocational background in printing is helpful but not required.

General: The head pressman must understand daily operation, know and understand quality and continue to work to improve quality and production methods, making goals to lower waste numbers, work to build good leadership for crew enhancements, and look at options to advance within their department. Some computer skills, the ability to read and understand written instructions, must be quality and production driven with the ability to lead crew members.

Flexo Press Operator

We are one of the country’s largest label converters serving customers nationwide from our locations.

As a Press Operator, you will operate a flexographic printing press engaged in the production of printed products in a safe and efficient manner. This includes the set-up of plates, dies, inks, and coatings as specified in the work ticket. In addition, you will complete quality checks to ensure that the printed product meets all functional requirements. In this position, you will also load substrates onto the press and record all required production data into the shop floor data collection system. As needed, you will be required to mount or strip plates, make inks, wash up press components, and complete basic housekeeping and preventive maintenance tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform typical press operations to support production department.

  • Review job ticket and work with Press Helper to ensure job is set up properly on the press per required specifications and job notes (ink, dies, stock, plates).

  • Run the job setup on the press and log data related to the job setup in the system.

  • Run the job per specifications and log when completed, noting material used, etc.

  • While running the press, review printed rolls for quality and consistency related to all aspects of the labels including color registration and die cut.

  • Following completion of the job, move finished roll to finishing department and breakdown and clean machine in preparation for the next job.

  • Communicate with Shift Supervisor and/or Production Manager regarding any issues with the labels and dies.

  • Ensure proper data collection for each job, including job notes on material and time variance.

  • Perform basic troubleshooting of the press along with the Press Helper and Supervisor.

  • Maintain the work area and machines in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed company policies and safety regulations.

  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities and participate in training when offered or needed.

  • Additional duties as required.

  • Must be proactive and detail oriented to catch problems or inconsistencies and bring them to managements attention.

  • Good organization skills to manage multiple different labels each day.

  • Knowledge of press operation and basic troubleshooting.

  • Should be mechanically inclined to grasp the basics of press operation and maintenance.
